Pest Control in Waynesville
What's different about pest control in Waynesville.
Waynesville sits at about 2,750 feet in the Plott Balsam range. It's where Pest Marshals is based, and where Dusty has lived and worked the routes for 17 years. What hits homes here doesn't match what Asheville sees twenty miles down the mountain, and it doesn't match the flatter Hendersonville plateau either.
Haywood County is hardwood country. Oak, maple, poplar, and hickory canopy means carpenter ants are the dominant nuisance call, especially in homes with cedar trim or wood-to-soil contact. Subterranean termites show up in the older houses on Main Street, in Frog Level, and out in Hazelwood, where original sill plates sit close to grade and crawlspaces stay damp through winter. Wildlife calls trend toward bats in the eaves of older brick homes downtown, raccoons in attics out toward Lake Junaluska, and the occasional black bear cub that wedges itself into a garage off the Plott Balsam side.
Rodents push indoors earlier in fall here than down in the Asheville basin because the cold sets in faster at this elevation. Pest Marshals knows the Waynesville routes. Most quotes get scheduled within the same week. Call or text (828) 736-1350.

The questions Waynesville homeowners ask most before they book.
What pests are most common in Waynesville, NC?
Waynesville sits at about 2750 feet near Plott Balsam range and Pigeon River valley. Haywood County is hardwood country, so carpenter ants top the call sheet, along with subterranean termites in older homes, mice pushing indoors as fall hits, brown marmorated stink bugs in October, and yellow jackets through summer. Wildlife calls (bats, raccoons, the occasional bear) are heavier here than down in Asheville.
When do termites swarm in Haywood County?
Subterranean termite swarms hit Haywood County in late March through April after the first warm rains. Swarmers look like winged ants but with straight antennae and equal-length wings. If you see a swarm at a Waynesville home, on a south-facing exterior wall or near a windowsill, that is the time to call. Pest Marshals will identify what kind and quote treatment.
Do mice push into homes earlier in Waynesville than down in Asheville?
Yes. Waynesville sits higher than the Asheville basin, so the cold sets in faster and rodents push indoors earlier in fall. Most Waynesville mouse calls start at the crawlspace vent screens, the dryer vent, and the foundation gaps where utility lines come into the house. Pest Marshals seals those entry points and treats the perimeter.
How much does pest control cost in Waynesville?
Most Waynesville first visits run $125 to $225 depending on home size, pest type, and property conditions. Recurring quarterly service typically lands between $89 and $149 per visit. Pest Marshals walks the Waynesville property in person, gives you a flat written quote, and the walk plus quote are free.
How fast can you get to my Waynesville home?
Most Waynesville properties get scheduled within the same week, often the next couple of business days. Pest Marshals is based in Waynesville and runs routes through Haywood County regularly. Active emergency calls (wildlife inside the house, aggressive yellow jackets, swarming termites) get bumped to the front of the line.
Are pest control treatments safe for kids and pets?
Yes, once dry. Every product Pest Marshals applies is EPA-registered and applied per label. Treatments target the perimeter and the spots pests are living in, not open living areas. Kids and pets are clear to return to treated surfaces within 30 to 60 minutes.
Do I need a contract with Pest Marshals?
No. Pest Marshals does not lock anyone in. Pay per visit, set up recurring quarterly service, or stop after any visit. Cancel any time, no paperwork.
Are you licensed in North Carolina?
Yes. Dusty Allen holds NC Structural Pest Control License #026-41582 and Pest Marshals of Asheville and WNC is fully insured. NC pest control is regulated by the NCDA&CS Structural Pest Control & Pesticides Division.
