Pest Control in Black Mountain
What's different about pest control in Black Mountain.
Black Mountain sits at the eastern edge of Buncombe County right against the Black Mountain range. The elevation and the dense hardwood forest mean carpenter ants are heavy through the spring and summer, and bears come out of the woods more often here than further into Asheville. Older homes in the Cherry Street historic district see termite pressure in the original sill plates.
The most common Pest Marshals calls in Black Mountain are for carpenter ants, wildlife (bears, raccoons), subterranean termites. Each one calls for a different method, which is why Dusty walks the property in person before quoting any treatment.
Pest Marshals knows the Black Mountain routes. Most quotes get scheduled within the same week. Call or text (828) 736-1350.

The questions WNC homeowners ask most before they book.
What pests are most common in Black Mountain, NC?
Black Mountain sits in Buncombe County around 2400 feet near Lake Tomahawk and the Black Mountain range. wildlife (bears, raccoons) are the top call here, along with subterranean termites in older homes, fall stink bug aggregations on south-facing walls, Asian lady beetles in October, and the wildlife calls (bats in eaves, raccoons in attics) that come with mature hardwood neighborhoods.
Why am I seeing more spiders in my Black Mountain basement?
Damp basements and crawlspaces draw moisture-loving prey insects (silverfish, centipedes, springtails), and spiders go where the food is. Most Black Mountain basement spiders are wolf spiders (often misidentified as brown recluse, which is rare in NC per NC State Extension), common house spiders, and the occasional cellar spider. Pest Marshals treats the cracks they live in along the wall-floor edge, not blanket-spray.
How do I keep wildlife out of a Black Mountain attic?
Bats, raccoons, and squirrels are the most common attic invaders in Black Mountain. They get in through gaps as small as a quarter-inch around eaves, gable vents, and where the roofline meets the chimney. Pest Marshals removes the animal, sanitizes, and seals the entry with hardware cloth and metal flashing so the next one cannot follow.
How much does pest control cost in Black Mountain?
Most Black Mountain first visits run $125 to $225 depending on home size, pest type, and property conditions. Recurring quarterly service typically lands between $89 and $149 per visit. Pest Marshals walks the Black Mountain property in person, gives you a flat written quote, and the walk plus quote are free.
How fast can you get to my Black Mountain home?
Most Black Mountain properties get scheduled within the same week, often the next couple of business days. Pest Marshals is based in Waynesville and runs routes through Buncombe County regularly. Active emergency calls (wildlife inside the house, aggressive yellow jackets, swarming termites) get bumped to the front of the line.
Are pest control treatments safe for kids and pets?
Yes, once dry. Every product Pest Marshals applies is EPA-registered and applied per label. Treatments target the perimeter and the spots pests are living in, not open living areas. Kids and pets are clear to return to treated surfaces within 30 to 60 minutes.
Do I need a contract with Pest Marshals?
No. Pest Marshals does not lock anyone in. Pay per visit, set up recurring quarterly service, or stop after any visit. Cancel any time, no paperwork.
Are you licensed in North Carolina?
Yes. Dusty Allen holds NC Structural Pest Control License #026-41582 and Pest Marshals of Asheville and WNC is fully insured. NC pest control is regulated by the NCDA&CS Structural Pest Control & Pesticides Division.
